Well, let's see what do I have to tell...
I started writing in ninth grade when my English teacher wanted a two page essay and I turned in a short story. He told me to keep going and I have.
Although I did put it down for a while...trials and tribulations of life...I picked it up once again in 2001 and haven't stopped since. Mostly I wrote because I wanted to, it's a passion that has never gone away and I did it for ME.
After thinking about it for a year and then getting up the nerve to actually do it, I went in search of an agent. Well...they're not as easy to get caught as I wanted to catch one, so I started submitting unagented submissions and it took me a while to get the hang of the dreaded query letter and synopsis, but I did, and have my debut title available as I write this.
So no matter what you're told, let me give you a piece of advice I learned the hard way...Persevere in what makes you happy.
Never forget that Karma has a way of coming back around.
Smiles to you and happy readings in all your adventures.
